SKATE WITH BUTTZ

A new era is rolling in

In the last few decades, skateboarding has developed from a subculture into an established sport. But not only that, the world of skateboards has become an integral part of fashion, music and pop culture.

Above all, the strong influx of women into skate parks has had a lasting impact on the skate community – worldwide, from Finland to Egypt.

We met Mischi in the skateboard metropolis of Münster, in the Black Heaven Skateshop . For the 22-year-old, the skateboard has been an indispensable part of life for almost 6 years.

"For a girl, you skate really well"

The 22-year-old can only laugh at comments like this. "I have no idea what to do with that, but thanks."
What got her on the board? "It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from. You just ride a skateboard, regardless of whether you're good or bad. You're a part of it."

MEDIA & ROLE MODELS

Social media and contests are playing a key role in ensuring that female skaters enjoy more and more recognition worldwide.
Women not only shape the sport, but also develop styles and techniques, proving that skateboarding is for everybooty.

Our conclusion? Get on the board.
